I went back and forth on whether or not to send Ashlyn to Georgia PreK.
Pros:
1. Longer day-she still naps so I felt like this would prepare her for Kindergarten
2. Bigger class--again preparing her for K
3. In case I pick up a job, this option would work better for my schedule
4. FREE
Cons:
1. Most of her friends were staying at CBA
2. I would be changing her two years in a row (Prek and then to K)
3. Money
4. She would get a better curriculum at CBA and I felt she may be bored at Georgia PreK because some of those kids have never been to school.
5. RELIGION
So when it came down to it, money doesn't matter. Yes we will need to cut back in other areas but I can't pass up the religion she is getting at CBA. Ashlyn knows more about God than I did in my whole childhood. I had to look up some things she came home talking about last year. She knows a lot of bible verses and when she gets in trouble, sometimes quotes them(Honor thy Father and thy Mother Ephesians 4:32). This is more important to our family than her going to a free Georgia PreK program. She will soon be in Kindergarten and we will not have the luxury of choice. She is going to stay where she is comfortable, knows the students and teachers, and can walk in holding her sister's hand.
For most, today is the first day of school. We have decided to send the kids four days a week so that I can have Mondays for appointments and/or a fun day with mommy. Soon these two rugrats will both be in elementary school and I want to savor this last year before Ashlyn starts Kindergarten(sniff sniff)
