Momma Said There'd Be Days Like This....

Another Pee (not pea) Story

So the kids had Awana tonight.  I picked them up and put them in the car.  As I went to get in the driver's seat, Chloe starts yelling that she has to pee.  So I go over to her side, unbuckle her, and ask if she can hold it until we get back into the church.  She says no.  So what does this classy mom do?  I pull down her shorts and let her go in the parking lot.  What does my classy child do?  She pees on my foot.........

Peas are Yellow??

I always ask the kids to tell me about their day.  Chloe was telling me everything that is yellow or lellow as she says it.  Bananas are lellow, the sun is lellow, my hair is lellow, squash is lellow, peas are lellow.  I stopped her and said no peas are green.  She looked at me funny and said, "Mommy my pee pee is lellow.  Is yours green?"

Bowling and Baseball

I signed the kids up for the summer bowling which means that every Sunday they email me passes for two free games per kid.  So why haven't we ever gone bowling???  I don't know!!  The passes are good from open to 8 pm so we went one day last week after Brandon got off work.  The kids loved it.  Ashlyn even bowled a 100 exactly.  She was excited.  Chloe was funny to watch.  She would carry her ball over, push it down the ramp, and then lay under the ramp to watch it hit the pins.  Summer bowling officially ends in mid September so we have a couple of weeks to use the passes.

While at one of the library shows, they gave away free tickets to the Gwinnett Braves game.  We only have one more week to use them, so we decided to go last Tuesday.  Well I looked at the schedule wrong and when we showed up for the 7:00 game, no one was there.  Apparently the game started at 1:00 that day.  So we had to get the kids a donut to feel better and head home.  Friday night they have fireworks so we decided to do that.  We had great seats along the first base line.  The kids didn't really care about the game.  They wanted to watch Chopper the mascot who Ashlyn called Chipper.  They also liked the music and between the inning games.  We made it to fireworks and Ashlyn was thrilled.   Chloe still doesn't like fireworks so her head was buried on me.  We got home late and they both slept in the next day which was nice. Ashlyn got up at 8:00 and Chloe 9:30.....

Weekend Fun

We had a pretty great weekend!

Friday night:  I dropped the kids off at the gym for date night and Brandon and I went to Stone Mountain for a seafood buffet.  It was very good.

Saturday:  Ashlyn's buddy Colbie was having a bday party.  Ashlyn has been asking everyday since we got the invitation if it was the day of the party.  Today was finally the day.  So then we got to hear her ask if it was time ALL DAY.  She went to the party and had a great time.  Then Brandon took the kids on a daddy date so I could have a candle party at the house which was fun.

Sunday:  We took the kids to Stone Mountain and did the kids version of the Sky Hike.  We never went in there before and they loved it.  Chloe was a little leery at first but then warmed up and even did the zipline.  Then we went to church this evening.  Ashlyn threw a fit about going in the 4year old class.  We have been going to the same church since she was born and she all of the sudden started freaking out about going in the room.  She said it was the 'boy teacher'.  Well we finally got her to go into the three year old class with Chloe and guess what?  There was a 'boy' teacher in there too and she didn't say anything.  So I'm thinking something happened that scared her.  I'm not sure what or what to do about that.............

BTW  Chloe is now in a big girl bed and loves it.  Saturday night was her first night in it and she didn't get up today until 8:40.  Goodbye toddler bed!!

I Don't Want to Wear That...............

The kids were a little wound up before bedtime.  We put them to bed and then we came downstairs.  Brandon is still catching up on travel time, so he went to sleep.  Ashlyn yelled for me to come up......

Ash:  What were you doing?
Me:  I had to tuck daddy in too.  He was tired and is sleeping so you need to sleep too.
Ash:  Why didn't he tuck himself in?  Were his hands tired from tucking us in??

Also, I'm not sure if this is just my kids or what-----but are they supposed to be that picky about what they want to wear???  Ashlyn is worse than Chloe but they are serious about their school clothes!  I'm talking right down to the socks and shoes.   Is this what I have to look forward to for the next 10+ years??????????

What Do You Want To Be When You Grow Up??

Chloe, Ashlyn, and I were playing store.  Ashlyn was the cashier and I was the customer.  Chloe said she'd hold my money for me.  Enough said.....

It's Not Strep

So I have had an on again off again battle with a sore throat over the last 10 days.  It started with me feeling crappy over the weekend, got better during the week, and then came back Sunday.  Then Chloe started coughing and I thought her throat was probably bothering her too.  So this morning I found out my friend's daughter has strep.  Oh no.  The thoughts came pouring in.....do I have it?  Does Chloe?  Did we pass it to her?  So I called the doctor and they didn't have any afternoon appointments so I made one for tomorrow at 10.  After talking with Brandon, I went to the Minute Clinic at CVS.  She looked in our throats and said that it looked like drainage/not strep.  She did the strep test and it was negative.  She is sending it to be tested to make sure but as for now, we are good.  Chloe is taking Claritin(doesn't like it) and I am taking a prescription medicine.

Over the weekend, we used some of Brandon's Marriott hotel points and spent the night at Stone Mountain Park.  It was really nice.  Brandon finally got to see Ashlyn really swim.  We did the duck boat ride, played in the barn, and went to the plantation.  They have goats, sheep, and pigs there.  Chloe was scared but thought one was the little billy goat gruff.  She didn't say anything while we were there, but talked about it at home nonstop.

Awhile back my cousin and his wife got the kids a cotton candy maker.  We have now perfected the art of making cotton candy.  Guess who loves it the most?

Where's Chloe?

I took the kids to the library this afternoon.  We went once a week or so during the summer attending puppet shows, story time, magic shows, and a ventriloquist.  It was a great time to go because there weren't many kids there due to school being back in session.  The kids picked out their books and then got to play games on the computer.  This is the first time they were able to do this.  While they were playing on the computer, I was looking at the kid DVDs.  I was happy to find some bible stories and lessons from Jay Jay the airplane.  I could see the kids from the DVD area, so it worked out perfectly.  Then I looked over and Chloe wasn't there.  I asked Ashlyn where she was and she had no idea.  I figured she was somewhere in the kid area and as I rounded the corner, I heard a little voice 'reading' a book at the table.  It was so cute.  I wish I could have captured it on video.  I'm happy that my kids love to pick out books and be read to.  As a matter of fact, I have punished them by lowering the number of books they can have before bedtime.  Is that bad?

First Day of School

Well we got off to a bad start this am but things went smoothly after the rush.  I wasn't feeling well last night and was up in the middle of night taking medicine for a sore throat and headache.  I couldn't sleep.  I finally fell asleep late.  Then when I woke up and looked at the clock, it was 8:40.  The kids weren't up!!  They never sleep that long.  So I rushed them out of bed and into the bathtub because they needed a bath before school.  Then they were dressed and shoving breakfast down their throats.  I got them out the door, took a picture, and made it to school at 9:18.  Drop off time is between 9:00 and 9:20.  They stressed that doors would close at 9:20.  The kids had a great day.  They both commented how nice their teachers are and what a great day they had.

Decisions Decisions

I went back and forth on whether or not to send Ashlyn to Georgia PreK.

Pros:
1.  Longer day-she still naps so I felt like this would prepare her for Kindergarten
2.  Bigger class--again preparing her for K
3.  In case I pick up a job, this option would work better for my schedule
4.  FREE

Cons:
1.  Most of her friends were staying at CBA
2.  I would be changing her two years in a row (Prek and then to K)
3.  Money
4.  She would get a better curriculum at CBA and I felt she may be bored at Georgia PreK because some of those kids have never been to school.
5.  RELIGION

So when it came down to it, money doesn't matter.  Yes we will need to cut back in other areas but I can't pass up the religion she is getting at CBA.  Ashlyn knows more about God than I did in my whole childhood.  I had to look up some things she came home talking about last year.  She knows a lot of bible verses and when she gets in trouble, sometimes quotes them(Honor thy Father and thy Mother Ephesians 4:32).  This is more important to our family than her going to a free Georgia PreK program.  She will soon be in Kindergarten and we will not have the luxury of choice.  She is going to stay where she is comfortable, knows the students and teachers, and can walk in holding her sister's hand.

For most, today is the first day of school.  We have decided to send the kids four days a week so that I can have Mondays for appointments and/or a fun day with mommy.  Soon these two rugrats will both be in elementary school and I want to savor this last year before Ashlyn starts Kindergarten(sniff sniff)

The Last Friday Before Preschool..........

Today we took some friends to Stone Mountain Park because it was 'bring a friend for free' day.  We had a great time.  Here is a picture from the top....

Yesterday we went to the dentist and the kids were great and no cavities!!

We also made a trip to the swimming pool yesterday.  Ashlyn was a little fish.  This picture shows about the only moment she had her float on.  She was swimming everywhere but I still have to remain close.  The funny thing is she wouldn't swim to me from the steps but wanted to swim to the steps.  So I would take her down aways, let go, and give her a little push.  I was surprised at how far she could go--almost the width of the pool.

Who is that in the passenger seat?

This is how I've been driving for the last month or so.  I almost always have a passenger in the front seat.  It could be Woody, Buzz, Purple Baby, or whatever.  I'm thinking if I ever get pulled over by a cop it may be an ice breaker.

Will they make it?

Recently somebody got married and I heard the barrage of questions.  Will they make it?  How long will this last? etc etc.  I then realized just how often this is said at weddings.  It is probably because the divorce rate is 50%.  However both of my grandparents were married 50+ years and my parents recently celebrated 40 years.  I have been blessed with a great husband and we balance each other.  I appreciate him and his hard work and dedication to our family

However , it did make me think---did people say this at my wedding???  Something to think about on our anniversary......

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

I can't believe that nine years ago, Brandon and I got married.  I guess we are getting old.  So what are we going to do for our anniversary?  Well we are going to Open House at the kids' school.  How exciting!!

I finally got my car back and it looks brand new.  It feels weird driving the van again but I sure did miss it.  On the way home there was a car accident at an intersection and we were at a standstill.  Ashlyn asked why we were stopped.  I told her there was an accident.  She said, "They peed?!?!?!?!"  I guess she associates accidents with peeing.  That may be because her sister has decided to have accidents lately.......

Yesterday I picked Ashlyn's "boyfriend" Carter and took them to the park.  His mom just had twins and  Ashlyn wanted to see Carter so it worked out.  While there a seven year old asked Ashlyn and Carter how old they were.  Ashlyn said, "I'm four."  Carter said, "I'm twenty and I'm Batman."
